In 2007, two cherished members of the community, Dennis Cogan and Madeline Carty, were lost to kidney cancer; and in 2011 Madi’s husband, Brian, was lost to esophageal cancer.

Cogan was an integral member of the community and gave much of his time to charitable organizations. Each summer, he spent a week at Sister Pat’s Kids Camp and grew to love the children and counselors with whom he spent the summer. this camp was very dear to his heart, and in Dennis’ memory, the Cogan family is donating half of this year’s proceeds to Sister Pat’s Kids Cam. Carty was a treasured member of her immediate and extended family, and loved to spend time with her husband, children, siblings, nieces and nephews. Brian was a devoted husband, father and uncle, who enjoyed all sports, especially golf. In memory of Brian and Madi, the Carty family has selected the National Cancer Institute — cancer.gov — as the recipient of half of this year’s proceeds, in support of their mission to find a cure for cancer.
