The second Annual Fallen Heroes Golf Outing was held in Eau Claire today.
The event at the Wild Ridge Golf course raises money for families of state troopers killed in the line of duty. it started after the death of state trooper 23 year-old Jorge Dimas in 2009. last year, 18,000 dollars was raised and the money helped send the trooper’s fiancĂ© and son to Police Week in Washington, D.C. where he was honored.
Organizers hope to raise even more this year. Ryan Zukowski, the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Troopers Association says, “Whether you’re a firefighter, a police officer in New York or a passenger on Flight 93, or you’re just a state trooper here keeping the community safe, we’re all heros and we honor them by not forgetting them.”
The participants in today’s golf outing included community members, business leaders, state troopers, police officers, family and friends.
